Federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz has announced an investment of nearly $320,000 to identify a simpler and more cost-effective diagnostic test for bovine tuberculosis.

The money is going to the Canadian Cattlemen's Association, who will work with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to design and provide input to an evaluation study which will identify TB tests that are less cumbersome and less expensive for regulatory agencies to administer.

Ritz made the announcement at the CCA's annual barbecue on Parliament Hill this afternoon.
