Crews are working long shifts to clear the roads throughout the Rural Municipality of La Broquerie.

Reeve Ivan Normandeau says it is tough to keep up when snowfall lasts for consecutive days with a strong wind.

“We have so many miles and everybody wants to be the first one to get their roads clear,” he says, noting the crews are doing the best they can in this weather event.

The focus is initially on the higher traffic areas, then branching out from there. The crew of six employees is responsible for clearing the streets in the village of La Broquerie as well as Marchand.

Normandeau tips his hat to the dedicated employees who are working long shifts to get the roads cleared as quickly as possible.

Rob Corden is the public works manager.

He says the crew has been working 12-hour shifts, including some overnight shifts, trying to keep the roads open.

We can expect the snow clearing operators to be working this weekend, clearing snow from approximately 280 miles in the municipality.
