The La Broquerie Fire Department was called to three separate incidents within an 18-hour span over the weekend. Fire Chief Alain Nadeau says the first call was Saturday afternoon at 4:30 at a dairy farm at the north end of La Broquerie which was the scene of a large fire a few weeks ago that destroyed several older barns.

"One of the condemned silos had some feed stuff inside, smoldering. It was no danger to the farm but it draws a lot of attention so we drenched that thing good."

Then just before 8:00 p.m. Saturday, they were called to Treasure Keeper's Daycare on Principale Street. Nadeau says it turned out that renovations were being done and drywall dust set off the alarm.

On Sunday morning, just after 9:00, they were called to location along Tetrault Road in La Broquerie. Nadeau says a resident there had been burning grass the day before and the fire re-ignited, burning the bottom of a hydro pole. He notes the cost of replacement will be up to the resident there.

"If you burn grass and the hydro pole does catch fire, you will be responsible to replace that hydro pole."

Manitoba Hydro says the cost of replacement can be several thousand dollars.
