La Broquerie has a new fire hall and Fire Chief Al Nadeau is very pleased with it.

He says it’s been a long time coming, and it feels great to move in.

It’s their third fire hall, but it’s the first time their building was built to be a fire hall.

“The first one we just had a machine shed from a feed truck company and the second one was a welding machine shop that we had taken over. So this time it's a real fire hall.”

He says that with six doors, they have enough doors for all the trucks.

He also is excited about the new meeting room, as it has plenty room for the whole crew, as well as a large kitchen.

He says they have all kinds of new upgrades, and the team is excited to have three washrooms now.

“We have a 20,000 gallon cistern tank under the floor. We’re 20,000 gallons in reserve. We have a hose tower to dry our hoses. So yeah, it's a beautiful facility now.”

He says the firefighters are very happy with the new building, and were eager to get all the trucks into the new fire hall.

“And I think the community is very happy with this. I mean, we're costing them lots of money this year with this new building, but I think they're very impressed by what we're getting for the community for the price that we're getting it for.”

He notes the building is on a six acre property, so there is lots of room for expansion.

“I think value for money, you couldn't get a better project than this one.”

Chief Nadeau says they have a new fire truck coming in July.

"Our first line pumper is 22 years old. It needed to be upgraded. So in July we're getting a new pumper coming.”

He notes they’re planning to have an open house sometime in the spring.
