The Winkler Flyers came into the TG Smith Centre and dealt the Pistons a humbling 6-3 loss in front of a packed house.

The first period showcased both teams strong suits as the Pistons had a number of solid shifts with puck control in the offensive zone and the Flyers showing off their transition speed through the neutral zone.

Winkler got on the board first as they cashed in on an odd man rush to make it 1-0.

Kyle Bettens answered back on a neat little pass from Zach Purcell who touched a loose puck through the neutral zone and allowed Bettens to skate into it. Bettens made a nifty move and showcased his good hands in tight as he pulled the puck to the backhand and buried his seventh of the year to tie the game 1-1.

Jackson Kobelka and Cameron Critch got the crowd going as they dropped the gloves in the Pistons zone late in the first period. Both players got some swings in and both were given 5 minutes for fighting and game misconducts.

The period came to an eventful end as the fans let the referees know they didn't agree with a non-penalty call. The game went into the first intermission deadlocked 1-1.

It was a pretty uneventful second period until Ty Naaykens took a flip pass from Dylan Cassie, broke into the zone with speed and walked around the Flyers goalie, tucking home his 5th of the season.

Poor defensive zone play before the period was over resulted in Winkler scoring the tying then go ahead goal in the span of a minute to take a 3-2 lead into the second intermission.

Codey Behun's 10th of the season made it 3-3 after a great hard working shift by the entire five man unit for the Pistons. Bettens and Zach Purcell picked up the assists.

The Flyers answered right back with a quick goal to regain the lead 4-3.

A power play goal for the Flyers extended their lead to 5-3 late in the final period of regulation.

With only two minutes to go in the game, the Pistons went on the power play but it ended up in a shorthanded empty net goal against as the Flyers stun the home crowd dealing a 6-3 loss to the Pistons.

The power play finished 0-2 while the penalty kill was 2-2.

Dante Giannuzzi made 31 saves and gave his team a chance throughout the game.

Steinbach will continue their four game home stand on Wednesday against the Portage Terriers.
