Betty was born May 31, 1940, and passed away at home on November 24, 2023.
She was predeceased by her parents Ben and Mary Kehler, her loving son, Don, one brother-in-law, as well as many who she considered siblings.
She is survived by her children, Randy, wife Cathy, Connie, husband Dave, daughter-in-law Rose, husband John, Gerry, wife Margot, and their families, as well as sister Nettie Turski and her family.
She was very proud of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they were a source of great joy. GG will be lovingly remembered.
The family would like to thank Marni from Palliative Care, her homecare girls, who treated Mom with respect, dignity and compassion, as well as Valerie for the personal and respite support. Also Dr. Dawes from CancerCare, who continued to check on her until her passing.
The United Church was a great place of solace for her, right up until the end. She formed many great friendships, within and outside the Church. We would like to thank her girls, some of whom are no longer with us, and the many others for all the love and support you gave her. We would like to thank Reverend Nancy for her visits, as well as Reverend Simba, who took the time to come and give her communion and visit. She really appreciated you all.
Mom always had an open-door policy. If someone had nowhere to go, especially during the holidays, there was always room at her table, she shared what she had. She always had time to listen, if someone was going through a difficult time as well as being a surrogate Mother to many as well as a friend and advisor to all.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba in mom’s name.
Cremation has taken place. Service will be at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Monday, December 11, 2023, 11:00 a.m.
Thank you, the family of Elizabeth (Betty) Koop.
