A man from Otterburne suffered non-life-threatening injuries after rolling his van in Steinbach Sunday night.

At 11:27 pm, Steinbach RCMP was advised to be on the lookout for a vehicle travelling east on Highway 52. The vehicle, described as a white Dodge Caravan was observed to be travelling all over the road.

Steinbach RCMP was driving west on Highway 52 when a speed of 180 kilometres per hour was detected on police radar. Police activated their lights; however, the Dodge Caravan was travelling at a high rate of speed and did not stop for police. RCMP then deactivated their emergency lights and did not pursue in any way in the interest of public safety.

RCMP then observed the Caravan's brake lights come on at the curve in Steinbach where Highway 52 meets Loewen Boulevard. This was immediately followed by a cloud of dust. Police say the driver lost control and drove over several concrete curbs, rolling at least once before coming to rest.

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, a 24-year-old male from Otterburne, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.

Police continue their investigation.
