The number of Manitobans in ICU with COVID-19 has increased by one since yesterday.

The province is reporting there are 47 patients with COVID-19 in ICU, with 45 of those being active cases.

There are 499 people in hospital with COVID-19, though the province indicated yesterday that about two-thirds of that number are people who went to hospital for other medical reasons but then tested positive.

Manitoba is reporting 1,228 new cases of the virus today. Of those:

  • 126 are in the Interlake-Eastern health region
  • 127 are in the Southern Health region
  • 149 are in Prairie Mountain Health
  • 163 are in the Northern health region
  • 663 are in the Winnipeg health region

Deputy Chief Provincial Public Health Officer Dr. Jazz Atwal indicated yesterday he thinks we will continue to see case numbers rise for the next seven to fourteen days before dropping.

Manitoba's test positivity rate is 44.9 per cent.
