Saskatchewan farmer Ken Ritter has been re-elected as chairperson of the Canadian Wheat Board.  He has held the position since 1998-99.  Ritter says in his post it's important to be able to relate to producers, politicians, and Wheat Board customers.  With another term ahead of him, Ritter feels the Board has several priorities to address.  Those include clearly identifying the agency is farmer controlled, changing as the world market changes, and developing a good working relationship with the Conservative federal government.  Ritter says the Board will continue to evolve in such a manner that it will retain market power through the single desk, but allow personal business choices to be made by producers.
