Bailey Bram playing for Team Canada

Bailey Bram is enjoying a lot of success in her second season in the Canadian Women's Hockey League.

The Ste Anne product is playing for the Calgary Inferno this season after playing for the Brampton Thunder in 2012-13 and a combination of the Canadian National Team and LHC Dam in Sweden last year. Bram has one goal and six assists in the fist 14 games of the season, helping the Inferno to a CWHL leading 10-2-2 record.

"We have a ton of skilled players on our team, and every day we're training or on the ice and just trying to get better and win first place in the league and the Clarkson Cup Championship," Bram says. "It's been great, the players on our team are awesome, we have a great group of girls and the coach is great."

This season is a change for Bram from her previous years, as last year she played over 60 games for the Canadian National Team, considerably more than this year. It is also different from her season in Brampton as they were much closer geographically to their opponents.

"When we were in Brampton we bused everywhere, and this year we're fortunate enough to fly," she explains. "We played in Boston and we had a 7pm start, we were on the plane at six in the morning and were at the airport at four. So it's different and you've got to adjust to it. Sometimes it takes awhile to get your legs at the start of a game."

With over half the season completed, Bram describes what her team's remaining goals for the season are.

"I think just to get better every single day," she notes. "The winner of the league this year gets $500 each, and in women's hockey we don't get paid. That's kind of our goal right now, to win the league and have a little more cash in our pockets. As of right now we're just trying to win every game from here on out."

Bram adds she is looking forward to the rest of the season and seeing what happens with the IIHF World Women's Championship in April.
