Ste. Anne's Shelby Bram is one of four Manitobans selected to Canada's National Women's Under-22/Development team select camp.

This will be Bram's third chance at wearing a Team Canada jersey. She says wearing the jersey never gets old.

“Every-time I put it on it's the greatest feeling ever. There is no greater feeling than to play for your country.”

Bram participated at the 2011 Under-18 IIHL World Championships in Stockholm, Sweden, the Under-18 National Championships in Surrey, British Columbia and in the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax, Nova Scotia. With all that success at the national level Bram wasn't caught off guard with the news this time around.

“Last year I was surprised to be asked, being asked again was really exciting. I hope I make the team and do it all over again.”

The hard work doesn't stop here for Bram; she is currently training on and off the ice every day in preparation for the upcoming camp in Calgary August 2nd to the 13th. She says even though its summer; she sees a lot of ice.

“Off-ice workouts are all upper body, lower body and cardio. When we are on the ice we work on agility and game time situations.”

Bram's success has also led her to Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she has received a full scholarship. She most recently finished her first year of her four year program.
