The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have won back-to-back road games for the first time since September of 2008. The Bombers scored 27 second half points and beat the Toronto Argonauts 33-24 on Saturday at Rogers Centre.

Buck Pierce completed 22 of 27 passes for 361 yards and three touchdowns. Pierce also survived a helmet-to-helmet hit from Toronto linebacker E.J. Kuale who was flagged for roughing the passer and ejected from the game. That play early in the third quarter not only sparked the Winnipeg offence but rallied the Bombers defence.

Terrence Jeffers-Harris caught five passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns. His first was a six-yarder early in the third quarter. Jeffers-Harris then turned a five yard catch from Pierce into an 84-yard touchdown with just over two minutes gone in the fourth quarter. Terrence Edwards hauled in a 63-yard pass for his third touchdown of the season with four-and-a-half minutes remaining in the third quarter. Fred Reid carried the ball 19 times for 84 yards. The Blue Bombers offence recorded 25 first downs and 483 net yards.

Brandon Stewart and Jonathan Hefney both picked off Argos quarterback Dalton Bell. Bell replaced Toronto starter Cleo Lemon who left the game eight minutes into the first quarter when he suffered a broken tooth after being tacked by Winnipeg linebacker Joe Lobendahn. Odell Willis sealed the deal as the Winnipeg defensive end forced a Bell fumble which was recovered by Dorian Smith with 1:36 remaining. Justin Palardy then kicked his fourth field goal of the game from 32 yards out that gave the Blue Bombers a nine point lead.

Winnipeg improved to 3-1 and will host the 0-4 B.C. Lions on Thursday, July 28th.
