A swerving car downed a traffic light and ended up in a resident’s yard on Thursday.

According to RCMP Constable Dennis Redekop, the driver of the white hatch-back attempted to avoid an SUV.

“The black SUV was heading southbound on Brandt Street and wanted to turn onto McKenzie (Avenue) before it was safe to do so,” explains Redekop, “the white vehicle recognized that there may be a potential collision and tried to avoid it.”

Asked if anyone sustained injuries in the event, the Constable replied, “one driver got transported to the hospital for precautionary measures but it looks like everybody will be fine today.”

Manitoba Highways were on hand quickly to clean up the downed light as RCMP blocked traffic.

The entire process took approximately 30 minutes.
