Another forty volunteers signed up Thursday for the Power Smart Manitoba Summer Games in Steinbach.

Games Coordinator Jennifer Leak says they extended their hours in order to accommodate those who can't make it during the day.

"Every day we have people signing up," says Leak. "To have forty people come in a span of being open three or four extra hours is a very, very good number."

Leak says the goal is to have a volunteer base of 1000 people. She says right now they are at about 650.

"Sport Manitoba is really, really happy with our progress with the number of volunteers we have at this point," she says.

According to Leak, there is something for everyone when it comes to volunteer positions. But she says right now some of the key positions they are needing to fill include access control, food services and cleaning.

Leak says they are already starting to fill in the shifts and schedule assignments. She guesses that once people come out for their first shift, they will want to sign up for additional ones. And because of that, Leak says she is really not concerned about not getting enough help.

Anyone wanting to sign up can either visit the Games office at the T.G. Smith Centre or go online to manitobagames.ca.

The games run from August 7 to 13.
