The R.M. Of Hanover Public Works and Operations has been monitoring water flow just south of Ridge Road around the clock as the state of emergency continues due to overland flooding.

Luc Lahaie is the CAO for the R.M. Of Hanover. He says the drainage situation has not improved much since Tuesday.

“Things haven't improved greatly from yesterday, but they haven't worsened so they are just staying status quo. We are hoping that the precipitation that is coming in the next few days won't have too much of an effect on our drainage.”

Lahaie says Public Works and Operations are confident that by the end of the week they should start seeing improvement. He notes so far they have not had to use any sandbags to protect properties and they don't anticipate they will have to.

“The only property that we are still monitoring closely is on 33E, just a mile south of Ridge Road. We are still making sure the water doesn't come close to the out buildings where the situation has been for the last day and a half. No sandbagging is required there but we are still watching it very closely.”

Lahie cautions everyone who uses Hanover municipal roads as there have been reports of culverts being undermined by water flow causing small depressions in roads. He notes residents have been diligent in reporting roads and culverts that are in danger of being washed out and encourages them to continue contacting their Public Works and Operations office.
