The project was first announced in mid-February and officially got underway on Wednesday. MLA Kelvin Goertzen says Main Street was totally rebuilt around 25 years ago, and it has served the city well, however, it is now time to do some repairs.

"There is a project of about $1.5M that is going to be happening on Main Street for several weeks for sure and it is going to be replacing those blocks of concrete slabs that have cracked or that need to be replaced for other reasons over the next several months."

ning motorists of upcoming construction. Goertzen says there will be no lane closures over May Long Weekend but there will be some disruptions to traffic through the course of construction.

"Now this was supposed to go on until mid-August but there had been some specific time set aside to leave things more open for Summer in the City, of course, Summer in the City not proceeding because of the pandemic so it might proceed a little quicker now because there won’t be that disruption."
