Despite 2018 being an election year, the reeve for the RM of Ste. Anne says they were still able to complete some significant projects.

Paul Saindon says a positive project for the Giroux area was council took over the park in order to repair some neglected infrastructure and bring new life to the park. He says residents of Paradise Village and La Coulee were also granted with a safer alternative to walking outdoors.

"We completed some walking trails in the La Coulee area that ties into some of the subdivisions all the way to the Paradise Village walking trails," notes Saindon.

"There’s no sidewalks there per say, so these walking trails are an alternative to walking on the side of the road where traffic isn’t always friendly to you."

A stretch of Loewen Boulevard, which is an inter-municipal road with La Broquerie, was also worked on in 2018. Saindon says there was also significant work done on Road 48N on the north side of the RM which is an inter-municipal road with Tache.

Saindon adds there was a lot of change in the RM in 2018.

"It was an election year which brought in four new councillors and myself as reeve. There were some changes up in the fire department of Richer where a brand new fire chief and deputy were brought in as well as five new members," he notes.

Also last year, council announced it would be partnering with the Richer Community Club to build a roof over its outdoor skating rink.
