Even though spring-like weather arrived only about ten days ago, yard work is rapidly getting underway in Steinbach. Dethatching and aerating of lawns is becoming a common sight. Oliver Kopp of The Rental House says they are getting busy with lawn care rentals.

"We had a real eager beaver already last Saturday who came and picked up a lawn dethatcher. Now we've already started booking up quite a bit this week for dethatchers and aerators."

Kopp says it all depends on sun exposure whether you can get started on your lawn.

"Everybody's lawn is a little bit different. A lot of people have those south-facing lawns that get a lot of sun which dries them off quite quickly and they are just fine now (for dethatching and aerating). Because we had no snow this winter, things are drying a lot faster. So that means now with this warm week, things are drying a lot faster. As long as your lawn is dry to the touch and it's not frozen, then it should be good to go."

Kopp notes he, personally, still has some snow on his lawn so he won't get going right away. But he says things are changing quickly and demand for the rental machines is picking up, so people will want to book in advance.
