"I was with my friend and we were amazed, our jaws dropped"

That was Sarah Lazaruk's reaction to seeing not one, but four lynx on PR 309 near her family’s cabin on Big Whiteshell Lake.

This group of five lynx was spotted near Pine Fall Rapids. We were surprised, they didn't run away and we were able to get pretty close before they started making their way into the bush."

Lazaruk says she caught a glimpse of a lynx for the first time last year but this was something different. Considering how rare it is to see a lynx in the wild, she said the experience was very special.

Meanwhile, Allison and Harry own Nutimik Lodge and Allison says they had a similar experience while on a drive out to Betula Lake. She says they first spotted one lynx on the road and then hunkered down in their truck to watch.

"Sure enough, three other lynx come out. these are just young ones, probably about a year old, I am 5'2" or 5'4" and they are probably about knee-high on me. They just kind of stopped, stared at us, weren't scared, didn't run away, one of them got up on a snowbank and was kind of staring at us."
