Six Ukrainian Orthodox churches in southeastern Manitoba will open their doors to the public next Saturday as part of ongoing celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Canada.

Ukrainian Orthodox Church in VitaSpokesperson Bob Cesmystruk says they will have open houses at the churches in Sirko, Sundown, Vita, Tolstoi, Dufrost and Sarto. He adds this is being done because many people in the area, who are not members, have said they are curious to see the inside of the churches. Cesmystruk says there are still rotating services at the churches on most Sundays, but this is an opportunity for non-members to catch a glimpse of these historic buildings.

The open houses will run next Saturday, July 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
