Both Cyndy Friesen and Sarah Dyck will not resume their Hanover School trustee positions following the October municipal elections.

Friesen has spent the past 3 terms serving the division on the School Board. Though she has made many meaningful connections with both staff and students and helped with the establishment of three new schools, she now feels it is time to serve the community in other ways. Friesen is running for Steinbach city council.

“I will truly miss the staff and the students of Hanover school division, comments Cyndy who gave her final address to the School Board on October 2, “[They] have been my inspiration for doing this the past 12 years.”

After serving for the past term Dyck notes she too is stepping down as life moves her in a different direction. “It was four great years of learning," she says. "Getting to know a group of people and working together towards the betterment of our students, that was my biggest goal, and I’ve been able to do that. Its been very valuable”

Dyck explains that she and her husband are beginning a family, which will take up much of her time in the coming years, but adds when she has kids old enough to be in school she would certainly consider running again.
