“I remember when we made the announcement in a field and it was raining on us and we were dreaming of what it could be... and now we’re ready to move in.”

Superintendent Randy Dueck says the new Niverville High School is the culmination of 18 ambitious months of planning, construction, and preparation. “It’s a dream," he continues, "and it’s a dream coming to reality right now.”

The Niverville High School will be welcoming its first students ever on Wednesday and its principal is ecstatic that the day has finally arrived.

Kimberly Funk has been working out of the space for over a month now and says it has been amazing to watch the chaotic construction zone turn into a place of education. Funk has spent her summer applying for grants,

Funk and Dueck both feel the Digital Learning Lab is an important feature in the new school. researching other schools’ practices, and figuring out how she wants the facility to run. Now, she is excited to finally show it off.

“I think there is a lot of curiosity about what this space looks like because the kids have only seen it from the outside," she comments, "and I think there will be some awe when school starts.”

The building itself is dotted with references to the town of Niverville. Dueck says the blue and green paint in the rooms are reminiscent of the town’s colors meanwhile the red and gray “Panthers” logo pays homage to the sports team that has already been active in the community for many years.

Dueck notes that special features like the balcony overlooking the learning commons, an open concept gym, and an incredible digital learning lab, set this school apart from all others in the division. He looks forward to watching students unlock its full potential.

“Without sounding too cheesy, I’d say it’s a pretty inspiring space,” remarks Funk, “and I think they are going to feel that when they walk in here.”
