A Local Entrepreneur was the winner of the Just Watch Me video contest for entrepreneurs with disabilities.

Lucy Fouasse is the Founder and Owner of Lil' Steps Miniatures and Wellness Farm. She says she was awarded $1,000 in cash for first prize as well as over $5,000 in other prizes. She says she will use the money to help more people.

“The thousand dollars that I got for first prize, I am going to be using it to send kids to day camp over the summer and also I have a fund I use to subsidize low-income families that can't necessarily afford service.”

Fouasse says a few years ago she had a serious head injury and her animals help her with her recovery. She notes Lil' Steps is all about bringing that service to families in the Southeast. She says hopefully they can continue to grow their services at Lil' Steps.

“One child at a time is my rule of thumb there. I just want to be able to have the service grow, have a bit more workers come on, be able to serve more children and just continue with the programs that I have been running because they have been successful so far.”

Fouasse says over the last weekend Lil' Steps was able to host a day at the St. Malo Festival of Friends. She notes they hosted activities like horse rides, face painting, and henna tattoos and served hot chocolate and bannock. She notes it is opportunities like this that help bring her therapy animals into the community, and she hopes to continue to be able to serve in that way.

Fouasse thanks all of the people in the St. Malo area that have provided support and helped Lil' Steps become what it is today.
