The Rural Municipality of Tache has elected a new Mayor. Justin Bohemier defeated incumbent Robert Rivard by a count of 1450 votes to 1356.

"I am overwhelmed at the moment," says Bohemier. "It is a beautiful thing to see and I just can't believe all the people who came out and voted. I'm so impressed with the amount and I can't believe the amount of people supporting. It was just a really beautiful thing to see."

Bohemier refers to the campaign as really interesting. He says it was fun to get to as many doors as he did.

"It was really neat and I had a lot of good people in behind me just coaching me and giving me tips and it's a really nice thing to do," he says. "It was amazing."

Bohemier says everyone was very respectful at the doors. He says even if residents didn't have plans to vote for him, they were polite.

"It's always nice meeting new people and I didn't have one negative experience," he says. "It was really always positive."

With the election now over, and the results now in, Bohemier says he is excited to start serving the people. He calls Tache a great municipality and says it is time to get council together to start focusing on the future.

"I'm just excited, to see the new council, meet everybody and I would like to have a chat with everybody and figure out what the group wants to achieve as a whole," he says. "And I think once we figure out all our plans, we can attack this properly and just put our priorities in check."

Bohemier, who is also a chef, says the two jobs have some similarities.

"Being a chef is a very interesting job, you got to think on your feet, there's always a problem, so I don't think it's too far away from being in this role as well," he says. "There's going to be problems but they are only problems if we can't solve them, right? So we're just going to put our minds to it, work together and we're going to get this thing figured out."
