Jim SwiderskyThe Reeve of RM of Stuartburn will run for re-election this fall. Jim Swidersky has served on council for 16 years, the last 12 as reeve. Swidersky believes he continues to have a lot to offer to residents as a leader.

"I believe I'm a strong voice for the community and my municipality and regionally. No matter if it's from daycare to health services to infrastructure grants, internet-broadband connectivity, cell phone service, we see the government is much more stringent with their dollars. And, they always want you to have value for your dollars and I think my vast experience in dealing with government agencies and being that strong voice, does matter to people."

Swidersky notes there should be an announcement coming soon on improved cell phone communications in Stuartburn. He says in addition to that issue, other things he will continue to focus on if re-elected include drainage, attracting business and industry to the municipality, keeping a fair tax level and fighting to retain services.

"We have to be very strong in protecting the services that we have in Vita and the RM of Stuartburn, especially when it comes to health care services. People don't want to lose any type of health services."

The civic elections will take place in late October.
