The Fire Chief for La Broquerie says there were non-life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon west of the community.

At approximately 4:45 pm, emergency personnel responded to a collision along Highway 52 at Borland Road or Road 38 East. Al Nadeau says it was a fairly serious T-bone collision.

"It was fairly high speed," says Nadeau. "Two females in a car that tried to cross 52 and a van hit them on the side."

Nadeau says it could have been much worse.

"They rolled in the ditch and they came to a rest on top of some large culverts and almost rolled into the ice," he explains.

Nadeau says those involved were fairly shaken up. He is not sure about the extent of injuries but says they were non-life-threatening.

Highway 52 was closed there in both directions for about an hour while crews cleared the scene. Nadeau says both vehicles will be written off.

Meanwhile, he urges motorists to drive with caution.

"The intersections coming off the gravel roads are very slippery, so you got to be very careful until those things are melted off or sanded out," he says. "You've got to be very careful when you're coming onto the highway."

RCMP report the matter remains under investigation.
