Steinbach Fire received a 911 call stating there was flames in the windows of the Steinbach Credit Union.

Assistant deputy fire chief Mike Penner says upon arrival the alarm was not sounding and the caretakers in the building did not have any concerns.

"We did not see any flames. We did gain entry and do some searching of the floors. We contacted the [911] caller and the caller felt there was smoke and flames east of the credit union itself."

Penner says crews searched the neighbourhood surrounding the credit union and could not find any signs of a fire.

He notes it may have been exhaust from a chimney mixed with the orange lighting which created what appeared to be flames.
