Steinbach Farmers Market will be held on both Thursday and Saturday this year.

Thursday June 25th was the first market of the year. Member of the Steinbach Farmers Market Volunteer Board of Directors Member Judy Swain says this Saturday will be the first time they hold a market on Saturday.

"We are opening Saturday mornings from nine to one. We want to catch people when they are out shopping. It's summer so they have their kids with them. It's a nice day to be out, and it's a day when people think about shopping."

Swain says for the most part the vendors on Saturday will be different from the vendors on Thursday. She says they already have 12 Saturday vendors lined up and are looking for a few more.

"It's a really good core. We are covering meat, vegetables, baking, and crafts. I'm really quite happy about it."

Swain says she loves markets and she is really excited about helping the Steinbach Farmers Market develop. She says she sells whole chickens, grass fed beef, and even a little goat meat.

Steinbach Farmers Market Vendor Esther Penner says this is her second year selling hand made soap at the farmers market. She says she loves the feeling of community.

"I love it when people come out, it is kind of like neighbours getting together. And it is very good if people come out and buy locally. That to me is huge. I think it is a good idea."

Swain says you really get to form personal connections when you shop at the farmers market. It is a great way to shop crafts and food.
