An event taking place in Steinbach this weekend will be live-streamed to destinations across Canada and even internationally. Steinbach Bible College is hosting its annual leadership conference. SBC President Rob Reimer says over 100 people will attend in person while others will take part through the use of technology.

"Our registrations are somewhere around 125 so far, but we have eight simulcast sites that range from Northern Alberta to Southern Ontario and even down into Belize. So we've really worked hard to make it accessible for people who are far away."

Reimer says the theme of the conference is suffering in the context of faith, a topic that has been getting a lot of discussion lately.

"Especially in today's society where we have assisted suicide and abortion. There is also lots of talk about teens and adults suffering from depression and committing suicide. I think as society, as a whole, we are really wrestling with this notion of suffering and what it means on a daily basis."

Dr. Gus Konkel will lead the discussion on suffering in the context of faith.Dr. Gus Konkel, former President of Providence University/College and currently a professor at McMaster Divinity College in Hamilton, is the guest speaker. Reimer says Konkel is very well equipped to lead the discussion on this topic. He adds, Konkel will be joined for the third session by Steinbach physician, Dr. Roger Gingerich.

"The two of them will be leading us in that session and I'm really excited to see how that will play out."

The conference begins Friday evening and runs through Saturday.
