Steinbach Mayor Earl Funk says City Council has received a very unusual request.
Funk notes Woodhaven Avenue is being extended west of Giesbrecht Street. This is the early stages of a new development. Funk says the developer is asking for two properties to be rezoned from Residential High Density (RHD) to Residential Medium Density (RMD).
ear yard setback of twenty-five feet.
The rezoning is being proposed for 216 and 220 Woodhaven Avenue. These are just a little west of Lund Road.
"We don't normally have a developer ask for a reduction in the level of density, but we did," says Funk. "It's not going to be as many stories but it can be a little bit closer, it can be a little bigger on the property."
City Council gave first reading to the bylaw. This paves the way for a public hearing to be held in August.
