The city of Steinbach is getting another carwash.

Henry Nickel, General Manager of Ste. Anne Co-op says they are currently building one at their gas bar along Highway 12 North. Nickel says when they constructed that site about ten years ago they left room behind the convenience store. Work has already started and Nickel anticipates it could open by April.

"It's going to be similar to the automatic wash that we have at our Brandt Street location, just the newest greatest version," says Nickel. "Single bay, automatic wash, a touchless system."

He notes there is not enough room there to add a manual wash.

Nickel says he sees a lot of dirty vehicles in Steinbach these days and definitely feels there is a need for another carwash.

"Part of that is when you have to wait in lineups you don't have the time to wait so then you just leave it dirty," says Nickel. "What should happen after the fact is there is just more cleaner cars in the city and all carwashes I anticipate would still be busy."

He notes their Brandt Street carwash is a very busy location.

Nickel adds they won't need to hire additional staff, noting the current staff should be able to handle the extra workload.

Meanwhile, Ste. Anne Co-op is also expanding the cardlock at their bulk petroleum centre. He notes the new cardlock with canopy should be more than double the size of what they had before and should be operational by February.
