Early Saturday morning, Ste Anne Police seized a large amount of marijuana.

Police Chief Marc Robichaud says at 2:30 in the morning officers were conducting a traffic stop when they searched a car, revealing a large amount of marijuana.

"We found about 10 pounds, so that's a street value of about $40,000."

Robichaud notes Ste Anne police are recommending a charge of Possession of Marijuana for the Purposes of Trafficking to be laid on the suspect, a 44 year-old man from BC.  Robichaud notes although the man is from BC, he has ties to the area.

"He's originally from our area, and we suspect the marijuana would have been injected back into the area here in southeastern Manitoba."

The name of the man will not be released.
