The Town of Ste. Anne predicted that 2018 would be their biggest year for construction and so far they are on pace for just that.

Operations Manager John Desrochers says permits have doubled compared to the first quarter of last year and permit value is up 60% at 4.9million dollars through the first quarter of 2018.

"At this same time last year, we were at three million so we had issued eight permits at this time last year compared to 15 this year. We're pretty much balanced, we've got four single-family starts and five multi-family starts this year compared to three of each last year at the same time."

Desrochers notes the outlook for the rest of the year continues to be very strong as there seems to be more and more demand for housing.

"We're currently working on phase three of Seine River Crossing which should be ready to build later this year."

He says there haven't been any commercial building permits issued yet ion 2018 noting there are some commercial projects on the horizon.
