Rapid growth was once again the main theme in Ste. Anne as we look back on 2018.

Mayor Richard Pelletier says the town issued yet another record amount of building permits with total value coming in just over $19 million which is almost $1 million more than 2017. According to stats issued at a recent Town Council meeting, that is nearly eight times more than total permit value ten years ago.

Since 2008, 112 single family homes, 68 multi-family units, and 9 commercial use buildings have been built in Ste. Anne.

21 single family home permits and 18 multi-family permits were issued in 2018 compared to 14 single family and 20 multi-family in 2017.

This was also an election year and Pelletier says he’s looking forward to what’s to come throughout the term with this team.

"Three of us who wanted to be elected again, we managed to get elected again. We got two new councillors added to the team and we met a few times and it is just great. We have a really good team and we have lots coming up in this four-year term."

As for other highlights, Pelletier says Manitoba Infrastructure committed to completing the main street project in 2018 as well as Arena Avenue. He adds work on Traverse Road will be completed before the summer of 2019.
