The red roads are listed as snow routes

Niverville Town Council has decided to implement a snow route system to make snow clearing more efficient.

Mayor Myron Dyck says council made changes to the parking bylaw to allow for certain arterial roads to be designated as snow routes. He says the snow routes will be in effect from November 1st to March 1st.

"If we get a snowfall, day one our guys are going to do general clean to make roads passable, but on day two when they are coming to do a more thorough clean, any vehicles that would be left on the designated snow route roads would be ticketed and towed. We are trying to get that information out to residents so that they know because this is new and we haven’t had snow routes before."

Dyck says these snow routes should help town crews clear main roads more quickly, and with less time spent clearing roads, the town will be able to spend less on fuel and labour.

"With the growth of the community and with trying to be more efficient in the use of our people and equipment the snow route is mainly our arterial roads, our Claremont Drives, our Spruce Roads, our Second Avenues which funnel a lot of traffic, being a commuter town, to and from. Otherwise, we are having to work around too many vehicles, there is too great a risk to damage and it really slows the guys down."
