Single-family housing development in Niverville has been very strong so far this year.

Niverville Mayor Myron Dyck says single-family housing starts for the first nine months of 2019 have firmly outpaced last year.

“Our single-family homes, we have already met what we did all last year with a couple of months to go so we will eclipse that. On the multifamily side, we were seeing quite a bit built in the last two years, not quite as many this year but I know we have just approved another 50 units or so for Mr. Wiebe so those permits just haven't been pulled yet.”

Over the first three quarters of 2019 there have been 36 single-family housing starts in Niverville compared to 24 over the same period a year ago. Dyck says commercial development has been steady.

“On the commercial side, things are pretty consistent there, obviously the big addition this year was the CRRC which kind of skews the number but if we take out some of those kind of one-offs, it is very similar over the last three years.”

So far, the total value of all permits pulled in Niverville this year comes in a $27,801,091 which is up from $14,245,000 at the 9-month mark in 2018.

“This year we are showing $27M but you pull almost $14M out for the CRRC, you would be about $13M. We have been sitting in that 16 to 18 million-dollar-a-year range without the big projects like the school or the CRRC so it has been very consistent and steady the last three years.”
