There was a fatal two vehicle collision on the corner of Highway #1 and Provincial Road 206 north at around noon on Saturday.

Tache Fire Chief Peter Skjaerlund says the accident took place on the westbound lane of Highway #1 at the turnoff to Oakbank. He explains what happened.

“One vehicle was parked on the side of the road looking at a map for directions and the second vehicle, which was westbound, ran into the back of the truck.”

RCMP say an 80 year-old man from Ontario died. He was driving the truck that crashed into the rear of a truck that was towing equipment.

Skjaerlund says westbound traffic on Highway #1 was diverted onto a side road for about a mile while emergency crews handle the scene of the collision.
