The chief executive officer of the Steinbach Credit Union says this past year was one of their most successful years ever.

Glenn Friesen spoke at the SCU annual general meeting Tuesday evening in the SBC gym. He says it was great to see so many members take part in the meeting and it is always nice to be able to deliver good news.

"This is one of our strongest years ever, both in terms of a percentage growth plus dollar growth and dollar growth is more than your percentage growth as your base goes up. Our total assets came up to 5.45 billion dollars so we are just shy of 5 and a half billion."

SCU assets grew by $416,299,020 from December 2016 to December 2017. Friesen notes on March 16th $7,500,000 will be paid back to their members. He says there are also plenty of things for members to look forward to this coming year.

"There are a lot of enhancements coming, there are a lot of digital enhancements. I think the number one thing probably is a new Mastercard and Visa Card that are coming up in August of this year. Stay tuned and definitely come see us in August for a new card, lots of new options, really good."

Friesen says the board of directors will stay the same this year with Bruce Penner, Doris Martens, and Maria Reimer being re-elected at Tuesday’s meeting.
