Members of the Steinbach Credit Union elected a new face to the board of directors at their Annual General Meeting Tuesday evening.

SCU Chief Executive Officer Glenn Friesen says incumbents Russ Fast, Henry Van De Velde, and Robert Dueck were all re-elected to their posts on the board.

"We had four positions open on the board and we had five people nominated. The three incumbents were re-elected and we have one new board member and his name is Bruce Penner. He has got a lot of IT experience, we have a lot of IT issues that we are dealing with so it is great to have somebody with that expertise on the board."

Entertainment at the SCU Annual General MeetingPenner is currently Executive Director and Ownership Partner of Momentum Healthware, a company that provides Healthcare software and IT solutions to governments and health regions.

Friesen says a big highlight of the evening was the announcement that the Credit Union will be paying back members $7.5 million. He notes this year they crossed the $5 billion mark, and they love the ability to give back.

"Basically what we are doing is everybody who has an account with us, whether it is RRSP or anything else. Half of that money is going to savings accounts and half of that $7.5 million dollars is going to loan accounts, so look on Friday for your balance and you'll see how much of that is yours."

Friesen thanks all of the members of the Steinbach Credit Union for what has been a great year.
