Steinbach Bible College students will be heading to inner-city Winnipeg, a northern Manitoba reserve, or the Philippines on Wednesday.

First-year student Megan Penner will be spending time in inner-city Winnipeg and working with the Salvation Army. Penner says she's never been on a missions trip before and is looking forward to the experience.

[We need to] know what our missionaries are out there doing. So, I'm excited to go out and see a bit more of the world and see what other people are doing, see where the hurts are."

Penner notes she's looking forward to seeing God work in ways she hasn't experienced and is also hoping to learn more about what she's passionate about through the Mission X experience.

Second-year student Jesse Plett wants to be a missionary and says the Mission X trips offer a good learning experience to teach him what being in missions looks like and how he can effectively communicate the Gospel with other cultures.  Plett will be traveling to Nelson House in northern Manitoba and says he's excited to start the trip.

"I'm excited that we aren't going up there just to save the world and going up there to save them," notes Plett. "God is already working up there and He's already been working up there for a long time. We get to see what He's doing and be part of it in our own little way for a few days, encouraging the Christians that are already there."

Plett says he's excited to see what this missions trip and next year's Mission X trip will continue to teach him about missions adding he would like to pursue either youth or cross-cultural missions after post-secondary.

Elias says he is taking courses to become a pastor and is looking forward to this missions trip to help broaden his view of ministry.

"Also getting out and doing missions in other areas gives me a little more experience. It's also caused me to think about possibly going out of this area more, maybe cross-cultural or maybe just somewhere else a little farther away to do ministry in a less Christianized setting."

Elias says one of the biggest highlights for him from the previous two Mission X trips was last year when his group went to Oxford House in northern Manitoba. He notes it was a good experience, getting to know the people, and learning about community life.
