Spring road restrictions come into effect in the RM of Hanover Friday. Brian Brunelle, Bylaw Enforcement Officer, says trucks will be limited to 65 percent of normal axle loads. He notes Hanover road restrictions are in synch with provincial road restrictions.

"The RM of Hanover tries to put its spring road restrictions on at the same time the province does. That way, there's less confusion for motorists, builders and suppliers, contractors and

agricultural haulers. This year our spring road restrictions will start Friday, March 17th at 6:00 a.m. and they will continue on until May 26th at 6:00 a.m."

Brunelle says they typically get very good compliance with the restrictions because residents understand the importance of protecting roads during spring thaw to avoid spending more tax dollars than necessary to maintain them.

"This is our way of protecting our infrastructure and keeping the mill rate down for money being spent on roads that doesn't need to be spent. We have very few people who abuse our roads. If enforcement isn't out there, people are very quick to contact myself or the municipality to advise which company was seen on a restricted road."

The RM of La Broquerie will also start road restrictions Friday. In Steinbach, they started last Friday. Provincial road restrictions start Monday.
