“We have not secured our debenture funding,” explains Chief Administrative Officer Jennifer Gilmore, “due to the need to acquire land, and especially, in light of the COVID-19 situation.”

As a result, the project has been pulled from the 2020 budget.

They will, however, be going ahead with their plan to build a new Public Works shop this summer.

“So, on top of the financial plan hearing coming up, we are expected to be holding a number of public hearings regarding the Public Works shop construction and the land acquisition for the lagoon expansion.”

Gilmore says Council is now looking at breaking ground for their lagoon expansion in 2021.
