Hanover Council has officially denied a request to further develop a contractor's establishment on residential property southwest of Mitchell.

Building Contractor, Jason Fehr, recently asked for the municipality’s permission to further develop his shop, on 35013 Reichenbach Road, where he builds off-site houses. After the initial hearing on July 11, Reeve for the RM of Hanover, Stan Toews indicates council took some time to investigate the matter. At a Council meeting on August 8, it was decided that a large commercial site of that size would be ill-fit for the area.

Toews explains, “Home-based businesses are good, but they are really designed for small businesses. Once your company gets bigger and you get a whole bunch of employees you should move to a commercial zone so it is less invasive on your neighbors.”

Toews suggests Fehr should relocate to a commercial site where his business can continue to expand outside of a residential area.
