Many familiar faces gathered together for an auction sale held in Steinbach Thursday, at a local business that closed it's doors last October.

Several past Mid Canada Millwork employees were at the auction with hopes of seeing their co-workers. Sandra Peters worked in the sanding department for 12 years and said she attended for curiosity sake, and for a last look inside the building.

"It feels a little strange coming in here, but it's something to look back on, and remember all the fun years I had here. It was a good place to work, I really enjoyed it."

Mark remembers working for Schmitdke Millwork before it went out business. "When I got laid off from Schmitdke, I had the opportunity to apply here in Steinbach for MCM, and a whole bunch of us applied, and we all got a job at once."

Mark says, he and the other staff would meet at the MCM location in Steinbach and would be bused to the original location in Winnipeg. He says they did that for one month before the business was moved to Steinbach.

"I worked here for 17 years, and I have a lot of memories working with people here. I made a lot of friends who had been here for 10 plus years with me. Coming here was good and it was good to see faces, I wasn't sure if I would ever see them again. It was kind of like saying goodbye to the building and saying goodbye to some good friends."

The auction sale brought in many residents and local business owners, as well as some business owners from as far as Ontario and Saskatchewan.
