The Reeve for the RM of Ste. Anne says he is looking forward to working on mutual projects with neighbouring municipalities in 2017.

Art Bergmann says they successfully completed a few projects with their neighbours in 2016 and hopes to continue that regional way of thinking this year. At a strategic planning meeting in mid-January Bergmann says as a council they will be looking at specific areas in need of upgrades.

"There are some upgrades we think are necessary with some of our municipal neighbours where we will do projects in cooperation."

Bergmann says Council hopes to work with the Province on the two provincial bridges in the RM that are closed. He would like to see them open for public use again as soon as possible.

In the last 150 years, Bergmann says the population has grown tremendously. "A big one for us this year is celebrating Canada's 150th birthday. Many of our people groups have come from other parts of the world, and the native residents here have allowed us to come in and make our home and futures here, and that's something to be celebrated."

Bergmann says his hope is to have some major celebrations in various communities throughout the municipality.
