The president of the St. Pierre Museum says the maple harvest this spring was the best they have ever had.

Rolly Gagne says their volunteers put in many hours this during the maple harvest this year.

"This is the best year we have ever had here in St. Pierre, we were able to gather lots and lots of sugar water and our sugar bush is spread out throughout the whole community in St. Pierre so we created exactly 28.5 gallons."

Gagne says an extended period of cold nights and warm days this spring was what led to their strong season. He notes their annual Sugaring Off Festival also benefited from the good harvest.

"We had record numbers for this year so it was successful all around. We truly appreciate everybody who came out but we also truly appreciate all of our volunteers."
