RCMP say Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the serious side-by-side ATV collision near Kleefeld this past weekend.

Police say they received a report of a single-vehicle off-road collision just east of Kleefeld at 4:20 P.M. Saturday. The incident happened in a field near Road 27E about 1 mile south of Kleefeld and 1 mile east of Provincial Road 216.

Paramedics were already providing care when officers arrived. RCMP say two females, who are residents of the area, were involved in the rollover of a side-by-side ATV. The 21-year-old driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Health Sciences Centre by STARS Air Ambulance where she remains in critical condition. The 20-year old passenger was not injured in the collision.

RCMP say the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision but the passenger was. Neither occupant was wearing a helmet.

An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
