Two RCMP officers will not be facing charges after an alleged incident last summer in the Rural Municipality of Whitemouth.

On June 30th of last year, the two off-duty officers allegedly attended a party, consumed alcohol, then drove their personal vehicles at high speeds and did doughnuts on Highway 44. No one was injured, but the Independent Investigation Unit was called to investigate.

The incident happened in June, but it was not reported to RCMP until July 6th and following an investigation by East District D Division it was sent to Manitoba's police watchdog.

Eleven witnesses who attended the party were interviewed. However, the Director of the investigation noted the delay in reporting the incident significantly affected the ability of investigators to gather evidence. As a result, it could not be definitively determined how much alcohol either officer drank at the party, how much was in their system at the time of driving, or even whether they had operated their vehicles.
