The Lac du Bonnet RCMP are investigating a suspected drowning in the Lee River.

RCMP says they received a report of a possible drowning at the old Pinawa Dam site off PR 520 just after 6:00 P.M. Monday. Police say when officers arrived, they learned an 18-year-old man from Winnipeg had been swimming down the rapids on the high side of the dam without a life jacket when his friends lost sight of him and he did not resurface.

The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team will be diving at the site as soon as conditions allow. Manitoba Sustainable Development and the Lac du Bonnet Fire Department are also assisting. Access to the Old Pinawa Dam Heritage Park is restricted as the investigation continues.
