Manitoba Infrastructure says they have no immediate plans to build up PR 201 as previously suggested by the Stuartburn Reeve.

Earlier this week, Reeve David Kianksy praised the provincial government for yet unannounced plans to upgrade the 11 miles of PR 201 between Vita and Highway 59 to RTAC standards; a change that would open up the road to heavy truck traffic for the first time ever. The RTAC or Road Transport Association of Canada designation would turn the roadway into a major transportation route by eliminating weight restrictions and offering a massive shortcut to transportation workers passing through the region. As it turns out, plans to revitalize the road were unannounced for a reason... they do not really exist.

According to MI, crews contracted by the province are right now preparing culverts and road materials for a section of the project between PR 403 and Highway 52. Meanwhile, the latter half of the improvement, between PR 403 and the border, remains in the tendering stage. The entire project is expected to be completed by fall of this year.
